" My feelings on Two articles from class"

  • My first opinion on the article Excerpts from “In the Basement of the Ivory Tower” by Professor X was not really straight forward and didn’t really give enough examples on why one student made an “F” on the first writing assignment. I think the article could have given more examples of students who know how to write well compared to students who fail like Ms. L.   I also think students like Ms. L should put more time and effort into her work and maybe she would have gotten a better outcome, then having an “F” on her first assignment. This article was not interesting to me nor held my attention the whole way through my reading. I had to reread several times to understand what was going on in this article. I just kept saying to myself why am I reading this ?

  • Also on the article “Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work” was very interesting, I did not dose away in my brain with other thoughts, and my full attention was focused on what I was reading. I learned new information and thought about teacher’s skills for helping students. In fifth grade I also learned how children have a fair amount of officially sanctioned say over what happens in the class and often negotiate what work is to be done in the classroom. I felt this article to be helpful and gave me fluent ideas that kept popping into my head to write about as I was reading. This article did not bore me in any way I wanted to keep reading more in class to get more new knowledge I never knew about.
